Royal Caribbean Cruises Provides Humanitarian Relief To Haiti After Earthquake January 15, 2010
Royal Caribbean Cruises, one of Haiti's largest foreign investors for almost 30 years, today announced its plans to provide at least $1 million in humanitarian relief to Haiti in response to the catastrophic earthquake in Port-Au-Prince. Royal Caribbean will be partnering with charitable organizations - such as Food for the Poor, Pan American Development Foundation, and the Solano Foundation, the company's foundation in Haiti - to provide additional assistance to the people of Haiti. Royal Caribbean will also be delivering much needed goods and supplies to Haiti via their cruise ships.
"The effect of the earthquake on Haiti has been catastrophic, leaving the country in need of not only immediate support, but assistance in their long-term recovery," said Richard D. Fain, chairman and chief executive officer, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. "Royal Caribbean wants to do its part to help out not only the general response, but also our hundreds of Haitian employees and their families through this disaster."
"In addition to our financial contribution, Royal Caribbean will continue to provide economic support through the continuous business we bring to Labadee," Fain added.
Leslie Voltaire, Special Envoy of the government of Haiti to the United Nations said, "Given the terrible economic and social challenges we now face in Haiti, we welcome the continuation of the positive economic benefits that the cruise ship calls to Labadee contribute to our country."
The benefits start with Royal Caribbean International's Independence of the Seas' call today to Labadee, Haiti, which includes much needed supplies for the country.
The supplies were loaded on the ship during its call in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and include items such as rice, dried beans, powdered milk, water and canned goods. In addition, 100 percent of the company's net revenue from the destination will be contributed to the relief effort.
In the next two weeks, the following ships are scheduled to call on Labadee with additional supplies: Navigator of the Seas on Monday, January 18; Liberty of the Seas on Tuesday, January 19; and Celebrity Solstice on Friday, January 22. When the supplies arrive in Labadee, they will be transported to an offsite location to be distributed by Food for the Poor, a long time partner of Royal Caribbean in Haiti.

The National Association of Postal Supervisors "NAPS"will be holding their post national conference cruise on the new Carnival Dream sailing from Port Canaveral on August 14, 2010.
Join "Bobby and the cruisers" as they sail away to exotic ports in the Eastern Caribbean after an exciting convention week in Olrando.
Shop Nassau’s famous Straw Market, explore pirate hideaways in St. Thomas and visit two countries on one island in St. Maarten.
The special rates negotiated for this group are extremely low.
Both postal employees and their family and friends are invited to cruise. Let's make this one huge party at sea!
For more information on this gret cruise go to http://tinyurl.com/m84gqb
Rates for inside cabins start at only $687 per person double occupancy and that includes all of the government taxes and fees!
We've even negotiated a $75 per cabin onboard spending credit and a FREE bottle of wine per cabin!
Don't miss the boat on this one!

Why sail in balcony cabins?
Over and over we're asked why people should sail in a balcony cabin versus taking the cheapest inside available. the picture at left shows you one of the reasons. It was taken from the inside of our cabin on the Norwegian sky this past Sunday as we were sailing away from Great Stirrup Cay.If this great view isn't enough to sway you, I'll give you a lot more reasons.
We polled balcony clients about what they like when sailing in a balcony, here are some of their answers -
Coffee and croissants on the balcony in the morning before facing the world or even the ship!
A sense of openness that other cabins don't give them.
A relaxing quiet oasis to enjoy the sea without the hubbub of deck activity and trying to find an available deck chair in a quiet corner.
A glass of wine or cocktails while watching the sunset before going to dinner. (On our recent cruise on the Norwegian sky there were a couple of single women that would buy their two for one martinis and go back to their balcony to relax and enjoy!)
On cruise lines that allow smoking, it's much better to do it on the balcony than in the cabin where the odor will linger.
And high on our male responses - Sex is much better and more proliferate on the balcony!
Yes, there are cruise pundits and uninformed travel agents that will tell you that you should take an inside cabin and save the few dollars because you don't spend much time in the cabin. That's very true with an inside cabin. Who wants to spend time in a closet?
But with a balcony you can relax in your own oasis at sea!

Explore South Florida
We normally spend our time exploring the world. We decided to spend the last few weeks exploring our own environment. We found some really great things in South Florida.
We went fishing on the Marathon Lady in Marathon Key. Fabulous!!!!!
We went for an airboat ride in the everglades. We live on the edge of the everglades and never realized how much fun it could be.
We went to the Miami Zoo. Now, we've been to a lot of zoo's around the world, but I have to tell you that this is one of the best we have ever been to.
We send lot's of people all over the world and travel the world ourselves, but we seem to have lost interest in our own surroundings.
The last week in our so called "staycation" has renewed our enthusiasm for our home town South Florida and all she has to offer. Want to know more aobut South Florida and waht you can do here, e-mail us at info@cruisepeople.com.
